Welcome

Summer is nearly over, thank goodness, and we're heading into the final weeks of our membership YEAR. I'm proud to say, with your help and dedication to our Fraternity, we have added over 60 members to our roster for a current total of 86! What an amazing year we've had energizing our chapter and reconnecting with Chi Omega! Our goal for the year still stands at 100 dues-paying members and dues have been prorated to only $10 for the rest of the year. That'll not only help us reach our goal but will include your admission into our final Member event for the year...a shrimp boil Aug. 14! Be on the lookout for that Evite and join today!

I also proud to say that we had seven members of our Chapter at Convention this year showing just how much love there is in Charlotte for Chi Omega. The Governing Council awarded us with the Sisterhood Award honoring the Alumnae Chapter with the best relationship with a collegiate chapter. Each of you alumnae who volunteers as an advisor, house corp board member or other capacity should be honored! Not only were were able to feature relationships with Theta Lambda, Wingate; Chi Lambda, Winthrop; Delta Kappa, UNCC; and Theta Gamma, Queens; but we also have members who serve on House Corps board at Appalachian (Pi Kappa) and even one sister, Stephanie Carlson (Rho Zeta, ECU) who serves on the National Advisory Training Team. There was no getting around the fact that our Chapter takes care of its collegiate Chi Omega Sisters! In our Chapter's honor, the Governing Council will be putting a brick with our name on it in the Founding Wall at Headquarters.

In addition to our regular Chapter events, we now have three subgroups: the Lake Norman area Chi Os, the SC Chi Os and the Night Owls. Each meets once a month as an extension of our Chapter and has its own distinct personality. If you've been meaning to come to one of these events, don't put it off any longer!

We're also getting ready for our Annual Owl Prowl in August! The date is still being worked out with the Carolina Raptor Center and the LKN Chi Os have been so great to take the board up on an invitation to help host a picnic at Latta Plantation Park following the event. Stay tuned for details! A special thanks to those Sisters for the positive response and willingness to host the picnic :)

Love in Chi Omega,
Samantha Starling, A.H.

Owl Adoption

Akai, a Western Screech Owl, was adopted from the Carolina Raptor Center by the Charlotte Chi Omega Alumnae Association. A portion of the chapter's dues goes to the care of Akai.

Walk for Wishes

Chi Omega alumnae and collegians had a dominate presence in the First Annual Walk for Wishes Oct. 24 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Through the generosity of those who donated and paid dues to the chapter, a $250 donation was given to Make-A-Wish on the chapter's behalf. Pictured are (from left) A.M. Manisa Capling, A.H.
